he has done these debates before. >> 23 debates in the primary. >> people will see who is mitt romney. host: that this paul ryan on "fox news sunday." chris christie raised expectations. how much of this is a planned strategy? how does the media handle the layout that has been prepared as the go into tomorrow night? guest: he wandered off the script. people forget that during the primaries, mitt romney was very tough. he dispatched newt gingrich and rick santorum. it is harder when you're standing up there one by one. that was paul ryan saying let's lower the bar so if romney does reasonably well, people will say, what a surprise. host: james from michigan. caller: the media bias depends which channel you watch. fox news is biased to the conservative point of view. i find it hard to believe that no one polls high enough to get into a debate with these other people, barack obama and mitt romney. they are so will finance it keeps everybody else out of it. i think we need another point of view. look at the facts. they seemed so much alike. guest: i could not agree more. we are so entrenc

there are many other issues that president obama and mitt romney are going to be debating. we have done she more debates left. at the end of the day, the person who comes out as the candidate most able to get america back on track in terms of jobs and getting people back to work, that candidate has the biggest advantage. on friday with the jobs number, present, we gained some of that advantage. i will not say the september numbers will be a game changer. but i do think we have some good news for the president. host: we are looking at the jobs figures that came out yesterday. we hear from the candidates who spoke yesterday. here is governor romney talking about the jobs numbers released. [video clip] >> there was a report that came out on jobs. there were fewer jobs created this month that last month. the unemployment rate has come down slowly, but it has come down. it is primarily due to the fact that more and more people have just stopped looking for work. if you just drop out of the work force and say, i cannot go back to work, i will stay home. you are no longer part of

mitt romney think. host: we will hear the candidates debate on policy in the coming weeks. can you reflect on the earlier part of what he was saying? guest: i think romney did make a trip this summer to europe and israel. he went to london where he famously criticized the preparations for the london olympics games. he went to poland. he went to israel. democrats have tried to emphasize what they see as romney's pension for gaffes. he's not comfortable with the subject of foreign policy and has seemed undiplomatic in foreign affairs initially. you see a somewhat inconsistent critique when it comes due romney and what the democrats are saying about him. they call him gaffe prone and flip-floping. on the other hand, they say there's no real difference between him and obama on major issues that count. yet they suggest he's going to be the second coming of the first bush administration. i think you have almost every possible critique being made on mitt romney right now when it comes to foreign policy, in part because his views are still somewhat unknown and it's not clear what k

i think americans should be very worried about mitt romney and paul ryan one thing to debate on that voucher. i have been to mexico. i am trying to understand what they are trying to do with that voucher. i think people should understand a voucher has a limited. if that limit of money runs out, especially old people, and young people should be thinking about it, because we are getting older, once that voucher runs out, people will start tasting a little bit of a third world thing. when you go to a doctor like in mexico or any other third world, doctors over there ask you first before they attend to you if you have insurance or money. if you don't have either, they will tell you to go back outside. that is very worrisome. to make another comment about the debt we have, people need to understand that started with republicans throughout the years before obama. no regulations on wall street. it's very worrisome. i think obama is doing the right thing trying to regulate especially on wall street, because wall street is a funding tunnel of getting money out of this country and not taxing t

guest: well, i think mitt romney in the first debate supported, made it clear support for education. the democrats will say that republicans want to cut education and make education harder to attain for students, and that is just not true. ryan wanty and govpaul to make sure school is accessible for all students. on the issue of pell grants, the president has tried to divide forever on that. the point of being a back door, i do not think that is true. schools admit students. i think pole grants are going to students who get into the college anyway, and have trouble affording college. one thing that has drawn contrast is the democrats will say mitt romney does not support education. that is not true. i would argue he supports it more. education was heavily supported in massachusetts. the education system there was rated very highly. host: let me put the numbers on the screen. 1.5 million young people between ages of 80-29 eligible to vote here in ohio. you both, i assume, have student loans. the average debt of college students is just under $28,000. the and apply merit among those be
